AC Milan new-boy Antonio Cassano may have to wait to make his debut, coach Massimiliano Allegri has admitted.
Striker Cassano joined the current Serie A leaders on a three-and-a-half year deal at the start of the month having been frozen out at Sampdoria following a much-publicised bust-up with club president Riccardo Garrone.
The 28-year-old was expected to make his debut for the Rossoneri at Cagliari later today due to injuries to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Filippo Inzaghi and Alexandre Pato.
But Allegri said: “Antonio has worked well, but after two months out it is hard to start right away. Cassano has a 70% chance of not starting, so there is 30% left.”
Allegri believes the clash with Cagliari is a must-win game for his side and has warned them against underestimating their 13th-placed opponents.
He added: “I hope the team understand the importance of tomorrow's match, as we must come away from Cagliari with a positive result,'' he said of his former club.
“Cagliari will finish the season in the top half of the table because they have quality and good spirit. Playing Cagliari is never easy, and I know they will create difficulties.”
AC Milan suffered a 1-0 defeat to title rivals Roma last time out, while Cagliari were beaten by the same scoreline at Cesena.
