Real Madrid vs Sevilla: 1st Leg Hero Benzema Calls On Real Madrid Crowd Support

Unlike Barcelona who seem to have sealed their place in the final of the competition, Los Blancos have some job left to do. In other words, Sevilla are not dead and the controversy which saw them lose at the Sanchez Pizjuan could inspire them for revenge.

In an interview with the club’s official website and TV, Karim Benzema assured fans about Real Madrid’s upbeat mood. However, he also singled out the importance of having good support from the Spanish giants’ home fans.

“We feel fine. We are preparing for a crucial match and we are expecting to defeat Sevilla,” Benzema declared when asked about Real Madrid’s spirit before the cup match.

Thanks to the Frenchman’s solitary goal in the first leg, the Spanish giants are on top of the opposition. Their fate is in their hands as they are 90 minutes away from reaching the final of the Copa del Rey.

“Yes, there’s only one game left [to qualify for the final],” Benzema affirmed.

“I hope we score one or two goals. But the most important thing is for us to play well and to win the game. [In the first encounter], we played a very good game.

“But, we only have a one-goal advantage and Sevilla are a tough opponent. We’ll have to play our game and hopefully we can win like that.”

So ahead of tonight’s match, what are Real Madrid’s plans in terms of formation and tactics? Karim Benzema answered this question as he gave the public an idea of what to expect.

“Well, we’ll have to perform the way we know how. The thing we must not do is to hold back. Our aim is to try to score from the start – just like we always do at home.

“We can’t afford to concede one strike, because that would seriously complicate things for us.”

Above all, Karim Benzema has called on Real Madrid’s home crowd to create the kind of atmosphere that can destroy any possibility of an upset by intimidating the visitors while giving more confidence to Los Blancos.

“I expect the fans to support us, because it’s important for us. We are just one game away from the final, and I hope that the fans will support us so that we can defeat Sevilla.

“I wish the stadium will be packed. Then we will defeat Sevilla.”

Neutrals can get ready for a tough match at the Bernabeu tonight. What no-one would love to see for the sake of entertainment, however, are ugly incidents like what happened in the first leg of this Copa del Rey semi-final clash where Iker Casillas got hit with a bottle.
