Stuart McCall will make his first trip back to Ibrox tomorrow as a manager in the SPL and will be looking to take anything positive from the game. McCall has already locked horns with his old gaffer when the Rangers came out on top in the Co-Operative Insurance Cup Semi-Final at Hampden two weeks ago.

Rangers will be aiming to close the gap at the top of the SPL with Celtic playing on Sunday at Tannadice. Walter Smith has plenty of options for the match with Motherwell tomorrow and could hand a debut to David Healy or even Kyle Bartley at some point. The impressive El-Hadji Diouf will be aiming to score his first SPL goal and could partner Nikica Jelavic in attack.

The only major injury problem for the champions is that Lee McCulloch will be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. It is a big week for Rangers with Sporting Lisbon and Celtic to come, but Smith wants Gers to treat Motherwell seriously first.

He said: "Everyone is inclined to pay more attention to the Old Firm games and the European matches and that is understandable.

"But they must not forget the important aspect of those, that being that they only carry the same meaning if we continue to win our other fixtures.

"We have to keep an eye on that and make sure everyone is properly focused on what they need to be at all times."

The visitors will hoping to leap into fifth place in the SPL and they could do that even if they pick up just a point at Ibrox. Former Rangers striker Francis Jeffers will be in the squad that makes the short journey from Lanarkshire. Jeffers played 15 games under Alex McLeish and could not find the net in his short spell in Glasgow. In their 2-0 cup win over Stranraer last week, Keith Lasley picked up bruised ribs and is highly doubtful along with Steven Hammell. Defender Steven Saunders is suspended and McCall will make a late decision on Stephen Craigan who has a hamstring injury from his International match on Wednesday.

McCall believes that if Motherwell can replicate the performance from the League Cup Semi-Final then they could get a shock result tomorrow. "I'm hopeful that we can put in the same performance against them as we did in the semi-final," the former Bradford manager said. "I was so pleased with the way we kept the ball and caused Rangers some real problems. I'm looking for the same performance but a different result.
