Arsenal Vs. Birmingham City
Arsenal are without Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott for today’s Carling Cup final with Birmingham City.
Fabregas (hamstring) and Walcott (ankle) both suffered injuries during the midweek win over Stoke City and neither will recover in time for the encounter at Wembley Stadium.
Fabregas said: “It's hugely disappointing. Maybe my heart was ruling my head when I felt I might play. Now, reluctantly, I must accept I cannot.
“Even on Friday morning I had hoped to be involved, even if it was on the bench.
“But the boss, Arsene Wenger, is right and the most important thing is to make sure I get fit as quickly as possible to help Arsenal for the rest of the season.”
Laurent Koscielny (back), Abou Diaby (calf) and Robin van Persie (hamstring) are all expected to overcome their knocks, with the latter set to captain the Gunners if fit.
Birmingham City have doubts over former Arsenal man Alexander Hleb (knee) and Cameron Jerome (ankle) heading into this clash.
Defenders Liam Ridgewell (calf) and Martin Jiranek (thigh) are also concerns, but definitely absent is on-loan trio Curtis Davies, David Bentley and Colin Doyle (all cup-tied).
